Blog on Summerslam 2024 Thoughts and Results

I give my thoughts on Summer Slam 2024 on Peacock. The PPV Was a b plus to me other than not a big fan of the Bayley vs Nia match. It was great to see roman reigns return. As well, as seeing Dominik turn on liv was like a wow like shocker. Great to see Bron Breaker win the IC title. Click or watch the video to see my thoughts in video form. Also scroll down to see my thoughts below the video in text form.

The opening segment and a few pointers

They opened the show with Jelly Roll, which I wasn't really listening to the song, but it was I heard later the song for the PLE called liar. I'm not into his music. But great for those who are. He did end up doing something later in the show. I did enjoy the commentators. Now, Samatha isn't my type of ring announcer and come across as two loud. The Otis, Apollo Crews, Corbin manscape commercial was lame.

The first match had a shock that was shocking to see.

The opening match was a great to see between Rhea Ripley vs Liv Morgan for the raw women's title. The match at times looked like Rhea could hit the rip tide anytime. Liv would kind of run from her. Like try to outthink her. In the match, Rhea hit the steel on the turnbuckle on her arm. The arm looked like it was broken. Rhea looked like a warrior and kept fighting it by getting out of the ring and missing a move when Liv was trying to attack her. Rhea kept trying to fight the pain. I remember she hit her arm on the announce table and put it back in place. Liv got a chair, and then Rhea countered. Dominik grabbed the chair and said you can't win the title this way. Then Dominik got knocked on the floor by liv who ran into Rhea who was talking to Dominik. Then, after that, Dominik threw the chair in to give to Liv. Then got on the turnbuckle, Liv hit her with the chair, and the Oblivion for the win. Liv beat Rhea and took home the raw women's title. You finally got the answer and the shock you were looking. Dominik has finally turned on Rhea for Liv which is something that I predicted to happen.

Finally, Bron Breaker wins the Intercontinental Title!

This match was between Sami Zayn vs Bron Breaker. This match went back and forth, and at times Sami looked like he had the win. He did come close to getting the win by trying to hit the helluva kick. But in the end Bron hit the spear twice. Then won the match with the 123. Finally, Bron Breaker won the Intercontinental title which I predicted to happen. I was happy as a fan to see Bron win the intercontinental title. Bron did it in front of his dad, and Uncle Scott. I saw that both looked very happy to see Bron win the intercontinental title as they looked down as they both were sitting in the legends section with DDP, Kevin Nash, a few others.

LA Knight Did It, yeah!

This match wasn't that great. I kind of tuned out at times. Logan Paul came to the ring, kissed his prime logo. I did like at first how LA Knight broke the mirror on the car. I was like wow! Then, LA Knight walked down to the ring which Logan was pissed. It turned into a brawl all over by the ring. Then, when both got back in the ring after a few minutes of fighting outside of the ring, the bell rang. The match went back and forth, and yes you got your typical cocky Logan attitude. The end saw Logan trying to use his men to get brass knuckles. Then, Logan got them, he used them on LA Knight. But LA Knight, countered the splash, and hit BFT for the win with the 123. I was happy to see because I am a big LA Knight fan. It was great to see LA Knight finally win the United States title. Which now people will be happy because of how Logan Paul barely defended the title. I can say I predicted LA Knight to win and very happy with it in the end of the match. I have no idea of when the rematch will be, but I can tell you it will be like the buildup has been to this and been great.

Nia won the Smackdown women's title

This match was like David vs Goliath with Bayley vs Nia Jaks. This match wasn't that great. I wasn't into it and was kind of following asleep. It looked like Bayley tried to give a fighting chance. Bayley did kick out of the Annihilator at two. Tiffany Stratton came out and really helped distract Bayley but didn't cash in like I predicted. Bayley knocked her off to the ground with looked like a baseball slide. Nia got the upper hand in the match, then hit the Annihilator and the win for 123. I thought Bayley might retain but will admit Nia has gotten better. I guess in the end its fine that Nia won the title. It was great to see Tiffany Stratton celebrating but the question going to be when she will not be the loyal friend and finally have her Tiffa time cash in and take the title from Nia Jaks. I guess time will tell, and I think that cash in will be something special definitely if WWE really builds these two together.

Drew Finally Beat CM Punk

In this match I did predict CM Punk would win in his comeback, but I was wrong. The next match was CM Punk Vs Drew Mcintyre, with the referee Seth Rollins. The match was one of those neither man have the attitude that why I can trust Seth Rollins has the referee. I did see Drew do that spot under the ring. Drew did grab a chair and said I'm going to do something we both know you want me to do, so turn away. Then Seth did, only to grab the chair from behind to stop the attack, and almost hit Punk. Punk got the upper hand for a minute. Hit the Macho Man like elbow. Blew Seth a kiss, which was supposed to be funny. Then the pin. Drew would kick out at two. Then Punk got the arm and put Drew in the anaconda vise. Then Punk got the bracelet off Drew arm. Put it in the corner. Then Drew was back up. Punk turned around, got hit with claymore kick, but Punk kicked out at two. Drew went for the Future Shock DDT, but Punk countered to the GTS aka Go to Sleep. Which Punk wouldn't hit the move, instead looked at Seth who Punk saw had the bracelet. He confronted Seth, only For Drew to push Punk into Seth, which knocked Seth out of the ring. Drew tried the Future Shock DDT again. Which got countered by Punk who actually hit the GTS. Seth came back in, which was a two count. Punk confronted Seth, then after a battle words. Punk hit Seth with a GTS. Then while taunting which Punk was doing, Drew hit the claymore on punk and got the 3 counts for the win. I'm a Drew Mcintyre fan so I was happy with finish. I think could lead to a 3 way at bash at Berlin or even say it WrestleMania 41.

Gunther Win the Raw World Title

This match was between Damien Priest VS Gunther for the raw world heavyweight title. You saw before the match that it looked like Finn and Damien were cool again. I'm not big on either one but it was a good back and forth between the two. Gunther did a bloody chest from the chop and was dripping. Finn Balor came out of the crowd. Gunther was talking smack. Finn got on the turnbuckle to be knocked down by Gunther. Damien got up, saw that, and was mad. Then hit a couple moves that led to the south of heaven. Then, Damien went for the pin. Finn put Gunther foot on the ropes. Damien saw the replay and was pissed. We finally saw Finn finally screw over Damien Priest. Damien tried to go after him, but Finn was the distracted that led Gunther hitting his the powerbomb, and the sleeper for the second time, which got Gunther the victory. Gunther has finally won the world title, and who will come after him? I guess we will see. But the major thing is what will happen on Raw Monday night because of what Finn did to Damien?

Miz and Truth with Jelly Roll

Miz and truth were in the ring after being back from the tease to the documentary on Cody and Roman Mania build up to match. Basically, cutting a promo about being from Cleveland. Out of the crowd comes Austin Theory and Grayson Waller. Both basically just dissed Cleveland and the Miz and Truth. The funny part was when Truth said it's the rock and roll express. Which it wasn't. But Miz said look behind you which was Jelly Roll. This led to Theory to getting a chokeslam. Then the three of Truth, Miz and Jelly Roll did the five-knuckle shuffle on Theory. Then celebrate and next to promo on the feud of the Cody vs Solo.

Cody Retains, and Roman Returns?

The Main Event saw Cody Rhodes in Bloodline rules again Solo Sikola for the undisputed title. I will say it was great to see Arn Anderson, and the dog, Pharoah, with Cody was very touching to see. This match saw some crossroads from Cody to Solo, and at times looked Solo got close to getting the victory. You saw all of the bloodlines get involved when Cody had the match won, as well as returns of Randy Orton, Kevin Owens, and Then Roman Reigns. Roman hit the spear on Solo. Then Cody with Crossroads and the pin 123 to retain the title. This looked like Roman came back to show Solo whose boss and Smackdown will be interested. Also very cool to see Roman help Cody out to retain the undisputed title.

Closing Thoughts?

Other than one or two matches, this PPV or PLE was very good for what I saw. Definitely great to see Roman Reigns return. As well as LA Knight win the us title, and as well as Gunther to win the world title. I will say Judgment Day is going to be very interesting to see what happens on Raw, Monday night. But overall, the PLE on Peacock was good which this year some of the PLE have felt like it was missing something.
